Academy of Martial Arts has been teaching children in Surrey, Newton and North Delta since 1987. Students learn Goju karate through high energy training exercises, partner and group work, and traditional katas. The dojo also introduces Okinawan weaponry and Jiu Jitsu ground fighting as part of its self defense training. Beginner classes are offered for children from age 3 up to 14, with separate groups for younger and older kids, plus junior classes for higher belts. Children build confidence, self-discipline, respect and life skills, along with improved motor skills and attention span, guided by a long-time instructor.
