Terms of Service
Effective date: July 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of skimscout.com (the "Platform"), operated by SkimScout, a sole proprietorship in British Columbia, Canada ("we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.
1. About the Platform
SkimScout is a two-sided marketplace that connects parents with local camps, classes, drop-in activities, and childcare providers in the Greater Vancouver area. Parents can discover, save, and review programs, and can send booking requests and messages to providers. Providers can list and manage their programs and reach local families.
2. Role of SkimScout
SkimScout is a technology platform that connects parents with independent providers. We do not own, operate, manage, or control any camp, class, activity, childcare facility, or program listed on the Platform.
Providers are solely responsible for their programs and services, including their accuracy, safety, legality, licensing, staffing, supervision, and delivery. Any agreement for participation in a program, or for the provision of childcare, is between you and the provider, not with SkimScout.
We do not endorse, guarantee, or verify any provider, listing, or program unless explicitly stated. We do not verify that any provider holds the licences, permits, certifications, or insurance required for their operations.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. Account Registration
To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information when registering
- Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
- Notify us immediately at hello@skimscout.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- Take responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, or restrict access to the Platform at our discretion, including for violations of these Terms, legal risk, or operational reasons.
5. Parent Accounts
As a parent user you may:
- Browse, search, and save listings
- Submit booking requests for programs
- Send messages to providers through the Platform
- Submit reviews for programs your child has attended
- Create a personal profile and manage your saved listings
Booking requests and messages
When you submit a booking request or send a message to a provider, the information you provide is sent directly to that provider. This may include your name, email address, phone number, your child's first name, your child's age, and any message you write.
For listings that have not yet been claimed by a provider, your message is sent to the contact address published by that business. SkimScout has no relationship with unclaimed businesses and cannot guarantee that they will receive or respond to your message.
A booking request is an expression of interest, not a confirmed booking. SkimScout does not process payments for programs, hold spots, or guarantee availability. Any enrolment, payment, cancellation, or refund is arranged directly between you and the provider.
Information about children
By submitting a booking request, message, or review you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child whose information you provide, or that you are otherwise authorised to provide it. Please do not submit more information about a child than is necessary.
Reviews
You agree not to submit false, misleading, or malicious reviews. Reviews must reflect genuine experiences with the listed program.
We do not mediate disputes between users and providers. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual users and do not represent the views of SkimScout. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to remove or modify reviews at our discretion.
6. Provider Accounts
As a provider you may list and manage camps and activities on the Platform, subject to your subscription plan. You agree that:
- All listing content (descriptions, photos, pricing, schedule) is accurate and not misleading
- You have the rights to any photos or content you upload
- You will keep your listings up to date
- You will respond to parents professionally and in good faith
- You will not list programs that are illegal, unsafe, or misrepresented
- You comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements related to your programs and business operations
We reserve the right to remove listings or suspend provider accounts that violate these Terms or receive sustained negative feedback.
Childcare providers
If you list daycare, preschool, after school care, or any other childcare service, you additionally confirm that you hold and maintain all licences, permits, and certifications required under the Child Care Licensing Regulation of British Columbia and any other applicable law, and that your listing accurately represents your licensed capacity and the ages you are permitted to serve.
Claiming listings
Scraped listings may appear on the Platform before a provider has registered. Information in unclaimed or scraped listings may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. Providers may claim their listing through the claim flow. By claiming a listing you confirm that you are an authorised representative of that organisation.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
Provider subscriptions are processed via Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan you agree to pay all applicable fees, provide accurate billing information, and authorise recurring charges on your selected billing cycle.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
Downgrades
If you cancel a Pro subscription, your account will revert to the Free plan. Listings in excess of the Free plan limit will be archived automatically.
Free trials
We may offer free trials of the Pro plan. If you add a payment method before your trial ends, your subscription will convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period and you will be charged on your selected billing cycle.
If you do not add a payment method, you will not be charged. Your subscription will be paused at the end of the trial and your account will revert to the Free plan. Pro features will no longer be available, and listings in excess of the Free plan limit will be archived. You will then have 30 days to add a payment method and reactivate Pro. If you do not reactivate within that window, your subscription will be cancelled.
We will send you an email notification before your trial ends.
Paused subscriptions
A paused subscription means your access has reverted to the Free plan while your subscription remains open for reactivation. During a pause you keep your account and your archived listings, but Pro features are unavailable. You may reactivate at any time during the pause window by adding a payment method.
Price changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days notice. Continued use of the Platform after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
8. User Content
By submitting content to the Platform (listings, reviews, photos, profile information), you grant SkimScout a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute that content on the Platform and in connection with promoting the Platform.
You represent that you own or have the rights to all content you submit, and that your content does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SkimScout and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.
