The last-minute summer camp guide for North Vancouver parents

If you need full days covered

When both parents are working through the summer, half-day camps don't cut it. Fresh Air Learning is the one I'd chase first. It's outdoor, full-day, and the kids come home properly tired in the good way. Mine did, anyway. Browse everything else running full days on the North Vancouver page.

When you call, ask which weeks still have space, not just whether the camp is "open." A camp can be open for the season and full for the exact week you need.

If your kid wants something different

Not every kid wants the same week of soccer drills. Lights Up Musical Theatre runs summer camps that are genuinely great for the performer in the family. My kid still hums the songs months later. It's the kind of thing that doesn't show up on the average parent's radar, which is exactly why it's worth a look.

The one piece of advice that actually matters

Register the week registration opens, not the week before camp. I know that's no help if you're reading this in June, but bookmark it for next year. The early parents aren't more organized than you. They just hit "register" sooner.

For now, make your calls today, ask about specific weeks, and you'll be in better shape than you think.
